This is TOTE-ally awesome — and EASY!

Untitled 1

I found on Pinterest a lot of towel totes…ones you can unroll and then have a place to lie down and sunbathe.  But I wanted one that also held my possessions.  Insert the wearable tote bag.

This is super easy. Take a wearable towel…I found mine at Tuesday morning. (One like this)

Sew a towel on top. I happened to pick one of my son’s that has a monkey head and tail on it, which may have the added benefit that he can use it as a wearable towel too, but you can use any old towel.

Sew the bottom so it can be used as a tote.

Then fold it up and sew buttons or velcro so it stays closed.  I then folded it again in half and added buttons so it can roll up all nice and small. That’s it!

Here it is as a wearable towel.

Here it is all folded up

Here it is with items in it

Items in it, folded in half.  You can carry it like this too, especially if you have a lot of stuff.

Roll up travel play kitchen

The kids have enough toys,  but when we go on vacation to Virginia they get a but bored with lack of toys at the grandparents.   So I designed a play kitchen we can travel with.

I used one of these :

And made this :

The detachable compartments can hold my cardboard kitchen supplies.

Easy as always!  Yay crappy crafts.

Dollhouse in a hidden cupboard

This is what L and I did this morning while waiting for J to wake up (L, I, J…this is getting confusing. By “I”, I mean “Me.” )

Picture 343      Picture 342

It’s a dollhouse!!! It just took an hour. We used scrapbook paper for the walls and I had other little random things lying around for everything else.

I think it’s about the cutest thing ever.

L’s Vintage Glam Room

This is my favorite room in the house.

Picture 368

The bed is PB Kids, but the white dresser and desk have been in the family for four generations.

Picture 371Picture 369

We got this armoire at an antiques sale last year.

Picture 372

It’s full of old family stuff and butterflies and french stuff and owls.  Yeah, themes aren’t exactly my thing.

Seriously. I need to kick her out and move in.

Patterned duct tape is just the best thing ever

I love this stuff.

To whit,  L wanted her babies to have a backpack.

First,  I used the bag that came with my Kendra Scott earrings but that didn’t  make me happy.

image

True to crappy craft form,  I just safety pinned ribbon as backpack straps.

For my next attempt,  I cut the bag L’s frozen panties came in down to size,  duck taped the bejeezers out of it to keep it together and added a front pocket and handle.  Turned out I actually had something identical that didn’t need to be cut down,  but oh well.  I like my project end result.

For the notebook I just used a teeny moleskin book.   For the Kindle I taped a Kindle picture from a magazine to foam board.   The lunch bag is a reusable sandwich bag cut down and then duct taped:

And the water bottle is a shampoo bottle.

Here it is in the back pocket.   And here are all the things:

The Dr. Seuss Party

I had way too much fun with this one. The cake is red velvet plus blue velvet cake.  The Truffulla trees are straws with cotton balls colored with chalk (I had the kids make them; we still have little cotton balls with green and pink chalk in random places in the house). To simulate the Dr. Seuss style I used black icing to outline the Lorax cake.
